TEXT3. THE EUROPEAN JOURNALISTS TRAVELLED THROUGH
THE ECOLOGICAL ROUTES OF DON LAND
The first group of European tourists travelled through the new ecological routes of Rostov region in April 2008. The tour program was elaborated by the Ministry of Economics of Rostov region. The mass-media representatives from Germany, Belgium, and Netherlands were the first to visit the ecological routes. The five-day program for the journalists included visits to Orlovsky District natural preserve, Tanais and Starocherkassk. The foreign guests also shared their opinions: to improve the transportation services, renovate the hotel rooms and hire more international tourist guides. The vice-minister of the Ministry of Economics of Rostov region Anna Palagina promised to take into consideration all the suggested improvements.

The regional administration planned to spend 47 million roubles for the program realization. In total the sum of over 370 million roubles will be spent for the reconstruction of the routes to Starocherkassk and Tanais. “The routes might be visited by the specific devotees. In my opinion there are organizational and language problems. Plus the tourists have to apply for the certain kind of visa, that also requires some complications”, said the German journalist Renate Zoeller. “We should show all the local places of interest such as wonderful Cossack sites in the Cossack village Starocherkasskaya, natural preserve “Rostovsky”, “Manych-Gudilo” and so on”, said the Legislative assembly deputy of Rostov region Ali Uzdenov.
